How to improve language access in San Francisco
When asked what the City could do to improve access to services for their community , 261 LEP respondents expressed the need for language services , including hiring bilingual staff who are culturally and linguistically competent , and the need to provide interpretation and translation in more languages . Some respondents , including speakers of Tigrinya and Maya , also expressed the importance of providing information in person or through audio or video formats for those who may not read or write in their language . Other suggestions included community and public safety , and more support for local organizations that provide services to community members .
