Scott ’ s Spot

YOUTH GOLF PROGRAM AT LGCC The Lexington Golf & CC Junior Golf Program only works with the assistance of members and friends helping out . I am appreciative of those who give up 2 hours per week to help me .
At the height of the Covid Pandemic we were the only game in town and attendance ran regularly in the 20 ’ s . We met at Vista Links and had tremendous support from the team over there . Just recently , during the month of May , we are back to that number of participants , running from ages 5 to 14 . I have added a second hour of instruction to better allow for less crowded conditions .
A normal session is held on Tuesday ’ s at 4:30pm to 5:25 pm for ages 5 - 10 ; and 5:30pm to 6:45 pm for ages 11 and up . This gives the older kids more opportunity to get on the course .
My primary goal is safety first , fun second , and skill development Third . I like using a variety of teaching apparatuses ; which includes SNAG golf , Birdie Ball , strings , alignment sticks , Bocci putting , and whatever enters my mind . Drinks and snacks are provided .
In June we will run a mock Drive , Chip , and Putt competition similar to the National event . The National event concludes annually after multiple local , state , and regional qualifications at Augusta National in Georgia on the Sunday before the Masters . The nearest local qualifier will be held at Birdwood CC in Charlottesville on June 15 . Registration is required . For more information check out drivechipandputt . com .
We will conclude our Spring Session on June 14 with an adult / child 9 hole tournament . Call the golf shop if you wish to participate .
I have been blessed to be able to play and teach this game . My background in playing high school soccer , basketball , college soccer and golf ; and coaching boys ’ and girls ’ basketball , soccer , baseball , softball , and golf has given me a variety of experience to draw from .
