SUPERINTENDENT

The Superintendent ’ s Cut

The LGCC maintenance team has been working hard these past few weeks to bring the course out of the Winter months . As announced in last month ’ s update , mowing practices have resumed and the greens are rolling as good as they ever have before !
With the greens rolling at ‘ spring speed ’ it comes to no shock to the golfers that it ’ s that time of the season to aerify the greens . It was decided during the Winter to not only core aerify but also deep tine the greens at the same time . The decision was made in due part because each practice is necessary here at the club to ensure proper playing conditions during the heat of the summer season . However , the LGCC maintenance team believes doing both invasive cultural practices at the same time will better suit the members by only requiring one time period of healing the greens instead of two . The hope is the greens will be healed by the middle of April and the team will be able to get the greens rolling as consistent and true as they were before aerification occurred .
The LGCC maintenance team has also been working on adding sand to all the bunkers around the course . This was a much-needed project to undergo as the bunkers have been the black-eye of the course for several years now . This project will take some time as the growing season is upon us , therefore we will be completing the project as quickly as possible while still conducting our normal day-to-day tasks around the property .
The fairway markers are still slated to be installed . However , the type of indicator has been changed due to the aesthetic that the LGCC team is attempting to convey property wide . We are still waiting for the new fairway markers to be delivered . We are also waiting for the new flags and other various course amenities to be received . We are optimistic that with the new fairway markers , flags and other items that the club aesthetic is elevated to that of a traditional country club .
If there are any questions or concerns regarding the course , please don ’ t hesitate to stop me when you see me around the property and ask . And as always , we are continuing to work hard in order to provide you , the members , with the best possible playing conditions in the Valley !
