Annual Fire Department Softball Tournament
The New Germany Fire Department Relief Association hosts its annual softball tournament each August , and typically , more than 20 local fire departments participate .
This event brings out the competitiveness in local fire departments , who show up to show off their softball skills to decide who is best softball playing fire department in the state .
Softball games all weekend long , burgers , cold refreshments , and all proceeds benefit the New Germany Fire Department .
This is a family event , while the adults are watching baseball the kids can play in the park .
There are other activities going on as well during the tournament .

Rails To Trails
Rails to Trails is Watertown ’ s premier summer festival and always has something on tap for all local fun seekers . The festival takes place the last weekend of July each year .
Rails to Trails kicks off the annual festivities with the Golden Spike contest . The Golden Spike is hidden on public property somewhere within the city limits of Watertown .
Clues are posted each day on the Rails to Trails website , Facebook page , and Instagram at 9 a . m . each day beginning on Monday . If you are lucky enough to be the person who finds the Golden Spike , all you need to do is bring it to city hall during business hours to make arrangements for verification and claim their prize .
The person who finds the Golden Spike will receive a $ 200 cash prize which has been sponsored by the Watertown Lions Club .
There are lots of activities for everyone at Rails to Trails . In 2022 the festivities began Thursday with a family movie night .
On Friday , there was a Rails to Trails Golf Tournament that took place at B ’ s on the River .
The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual duck race on Saturday in the Crow River again this year , following the Grand Parade . The Grand Parade features floats from all around Minnesota . Each day of festival features live music , a kids zone , and other family-friendly activities in downtown Watertown .
