FRIDA KAHLO :
A woman who changed the world of art
Frida kahlo was a mexican-born artist who was born and raised in coyoacán , mexico city , mexico , she was born july 6th , 1907 , and sadly passed july 13th , 1954 . The type of artwork she does is self-portraits and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of mexico . While growing up she had also contracted polio , but frida had officially started to paint when she was in a horrible bus accident in 1925 , at the age of 18 , during her convalescence when a tram collided with the bus on which she was trav- eling home from school . The impact broke her spine in three places and fractured her right leg , collarbone , ribs , and pelvis which in the process severely impacted her fertility to where she couldn ’ t have children , and even if she tried she ’ d miscarry . She also suffered from long-term pain and had to have 32 surgeries which confined her to a bed for 3 months . She started painting during this time she never really thought of having art as a career .
