The Westminster Kennel Club made donations based on a portion of the proceeds from the sale of merchandise in 2020 to our partners and dog clubs .
A donation of $ 8,600 , based on the proceeds from the sales of Westminster collars and leashes , went to Purina ’ s Purple Leash Project which partners with Red Rover . The Purple Leash Project was born out of Purina ’ s mission to bring and keep pets and people together and works to make domestic violence shelters pet friendly . Spectators and handlers wore purple lapel ribbons in support of the cause at the dog show .
Nearly $ 7,400 from proceeds of the sale of the Misha Lenn Collection ( including ornaments , umbrellas , magnets and mugs ) went to the American Heart Association .
Additionally , proceeds from the sales of the new Best in Show pin were also donated to the Westminster Gives Back Awards which assists AKC Parent Clubs with their breed rescue initiatives .

The American Heart Association ’ s Red Dress Collection Fashion Show featured the 2019 Best in Show winning dog , King , on the runway in NYC ’ s Fashion Week . Rachel Smith handled King , as the official “ celebrity spokesdog ” on the runway where he drew a robust round of applause . Westminster ’ s Gail Miller Bisher and King walked on the red carpet at this celebrity-filled event . King ’ s appearance represented all dogs who help improve peoples ’ physical health and emotional well-being . Another American Heart Association initiative A Healthy Bond for Life highlights studies that have shown pet ownership may help increase fitness levels , relieve stress , lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels , and boost overall happiness and well-being . Pets also provide social support , which is an important factor in helping you stick with healthy habits .
The Westminster Kennel Club once again partnered with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine as the official veterinary care provider for the 145th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show . A video series featuring Cornell experts on a variety of canine health topics appeared as part of the in-arena experience at Madison Square Garden .
