Message from the Chief of Staff

The AUX is MORE relevant and needed today than ever .
I am humbled , excited , and blessed to be the 5NR Chief of Staff for the next two years . We can be more relevant today than ever if we continue to adapt , grow , train , and remain " SEMPER PARATUS "! Our members ' talents and service are widely recognized as reasons Team Coast Guard can achieve its full mission capabilities . Since 1941 , we have been at the call to help support Public Education ( PE ), Aviation ( AV ), Surface Operations ( OP ), Communications ( CM ), Communication Services ( CS ), Marine Safety and Environmental Protection ( MS ), Navigation Systems ( NS ), Public Affairs ( PA ), Recreational Boating Safety Visitation Program ( PV ), Vessel Examination ( VE ) and many more missions . I am here to help you work through our mission , goals , and Commodore Giannattasio ' s vision of being ready for the call .
For the 2021 year , ALL MISSIONS are open ! That is correct … ALL MISSIONS ARE OPEN , with proper COVID-19 protocols followed . ( See notices , directives , and form ANSC7101 )

If we continue to adapt to the ever-changing needs , challenges , and mission scope we are given , we will be asked to do more , not less . This demands that we are flexible , well-trained , and show ourselves as a force multiplier inside " Team Coast Guard " through the vertical missions we offer . Remember , NO other military service branch has a " GO TO " group such as the Coast Guard has in us !
So with this said , as Chief of Staff , I ask you to consider the following ;
� Wear your uniform proudly and with crispness !
� Enter ALL of your hours , as this is the only way for us to get funding sources , allowing operational leaders and decision-makers to know all the great work you are doing .
� Take time to re-invest in yourself through training and personal growth .
� Set up a personal plan and goals for your year .
� Know your FC , DCDR , DCOS , DCO , and DIRAUX Strategic and Operational Plans .
� BALANCE- Make sure you take care of your personal , family life , and health . If there is not proper balance , then there may only be a sprint in your Aux work , not long-term sustainability . Sprinters will fade in long runs .
� Rekindle your friendships with your shipmates since we see an opening in activities .
� If there is a person or group you have had concerns about , bury the hatchet and focus on a new beginning . NO ONE wins with dysfunction .
� Most importantly , HAVE FUN , SMILE , AND ENJOY YOUR EXPERIENCES . Life is short !
We are excited to help in any way with an open door policy through your COLM . We are so thankful for you , your support , your efforts , and as always , SEMPER PARATUS !
