listed , please check to make sure the information in the orange-colored 2020 directory is current . The directory information includes resident phone numbers and it is possible that this information may have changed . For instance , if you have canceled your landline and are now exclusively using your cell phone , please contact us so we can remove the landline from the directory . The phone company will reassign those cancelled phone numbers to new clients and those new clients will be receiving your phone calls . This can be very frustrating for all concerned . The deadline for making changes is May 19 , which is the day of the CCC annual meeting .
If you have recently moved to Charbonneau , be sure to contact the CCC office staff at 503-694-2300 or office @ charbonneaucountryclub . com and let them know how you would like to be listed in the directory . The directory will be printed and delivered by the post office exclusively to Charbonneau addresses sometime in June .

Safety tips for walking , cycling , driving in Charbonneau

“ An early morning walk is a blessing for the whole day .” — Henry David Thoreau
One of the many benefits of living in Charbonneau is the ability to walk , jog and cycle in relative safety through a beautiful community . Motorists seem mindful of pedestrians and cyclists as they wave in passing . French Prairie Road is a wide , four-lane boulevard .
Many interior streets are signed and marked with crosswalks and stop signs exist at many intersections .
During the pandemic lockdown , more residents have taken to the few sidewalks and the Charbonneau Golf Club Red Course was available for limited use . With all this new activity , it is apparent that numerous challenges to pedestrians , cyclists and motorists have become more pronounced . In an effort to move

Reflective arm and leg bands , and battery powered flashing lights have been provided by SMART . from anecdote to fact , several steps have recently been taken to frame traffic safety more definitively .
A traffic safety study was conducted along French Prairie Road by the city of Wilsonville to measure the speed of cars and trucks . Most vehicles were complying with the 25 miles per hour speed limits . Additional measurements , informational enforcement and possible citations , if necessary , are anticipated . An inventory of crosswalks , markings and signage has been conducted . The city of Wilsonville will take our internal work and compare it to state and city standards , as well as best practices for communities like Charbonneau . It is apparent that many residents have liberated French Prairie Road from a motorized passage to a shared use corridor . Walkers are moving both with and against traffic .
Several near misses between vehicles and pedestrians have been reported . The heavy canopy of trees along French Prairie also creates darkened and shaded areas that limit visibility for cyclists , pedestrians and motorists .
Reflective arm and leg bands as well as battery powered flashing lights have been provided by SMART and are being distributed by volunteers to walkers and cyclists , and are available without cost in the clubhouse . Also , there are free walking maps and specific safety materials for pedestrians , bicyclists and automobiles available in the clubhouse . Later this summer , residents will be consulted about their observations , thoughts and suggestions to further increase both access to safe corridors for walking and cycling while improving vehicular movement .
There are many attributes of living , working and playing in Charbonneau but none more important than safety of people , places and things . A few reminders for our mutual well-being :
Stay alert and be aware of each other as we share the road .
Cross with caution and watch for others before proceeding through intersections .
Be clear to drivers and pedestrians by making eye contact at intersections .
Go against the flow and walk against traffic .
Cyclists and pedestrians can improve their visibility to motorists by wearing light colored clothing accentuated by reflective markers or illumination .
Share your thoughts and ideas about cycling and pedestrian with the Charbonneau Emergency Preparedness & Public Safety Committee as it engages the city of Wilsonville in an ongoing conversation about improvements that can be made in Charbonneau on the streets , which are owned and maintained by the city .
