Sunshine Service

Please remember to return equipment

It can ’ t be May already ! What happened to all the other months this year ?
First of all , let me thank the many local people who have showered me with beautiful cards and flowers on the recent passing of
VEDDER
my husband , Murm . He passed away on March 12 , here at home , surrounded by family . I know that so many of you have also gone through this situation and understand what I ’ m feeling . It ’ s truly a day-to-day existence , hopefully with more good ones in the future .
I am so happy to be returning to my Sunshine Service job ! A big thanks to the wonderful volunteers who have stood by me for the past couple of months as I nursed my husband . I stopped over at the CCC this morning and it seems like we are in good shape with inventory , etc .
However , looking through the record book , I do see an awful lot of equipment that has been out a very long time . Many items going back almost one year . Having to phone people is awkward and I am asking that you please arrange to return things on your own . We are missing wheelchairs , walkers , bed rails and so on . It will be hard to help a new client when we are down to only one or two items they need .
The normal use of most things is approximately two months , possibly a bit longer . Many of these things are expensive and not so easy to replace . We always welcome a small donation as a thank you for the loan of equipment in your time of need .
A few weeks before my husband passed , one night he said : “ You made all my dreams come true . Thank you .” After 60 years of marriage , it was wonderful to hear that .
Enjoy your homes and gardens this month , and stay healthy ! Let ’ s wave goodbye to COVID-19 .
