Cake

by Gaby Ramirez

I shouldn’t, It’s wrong

It is not mine to take or mine to taste

My sugar level rises

Today’s gain tomorrow’s mistake

I should stop it’s not right

But I can’t, I can’t stop I’m such  foodie

As I bring the fork to my lips

My palms sweat, my body shakes, and my tongue dries up.

The cake in my mouth tastes like edible gold.

I taste it and think it can be an award-winning cake.

I can’t wait till my next piece!

What drives you?

"I am"

by Natalia Lewis

I am everybody. I am not myself.

Oh! The many books that weigh on me - the overused shelf.

If I could be like you, one person or another.

I am sure that Iwould. "What would happen?" I wonder.

The driest desert, the rippling creek. I cannot be the night or day, I am the dawn.

The buck or the doe, I am the newborn fawn.

I cry tears of a sadness, I cry tears of joy.

I like to create -- I live to destroy.

If I were one person would You love me more?

My personality is a ship sailing in a storm.

The darkness that shows in me, is fought by the light.

I rejoice in peace -- I learn to fight.

But most of all I am the world.

I wait to see, as my Identity unfolds.
