Liverpool University Plastic Innovation Centre A Recycling of Campus Waste

" Working as a pair , our project tackled the plastic waste crisis . We proposed a series of developments to create a circular economy of plastic waste on the University of Liverpool campus . Inspired by the discovery that of the 1900 tonnes of waste produced on campus each year , only 25 % was recycled . We challenged ourselves to develop a system of recycling or reusing 100 % of the plastic waste . Importantly we also proposed the renovation of the dilapidated Derby & Hartley buildings , an important task when designing for the future due to the high embodied carbon in existing buildings ." - Birring
