It includes a similar level of detail , displaying expansive areas filled with geographical features that players can use to their advantage , such as dense forests and obstructive mountains . Upon beating A New Order , players will be encouraged to immediately start a new game due to the vast selection of biomes . They will want to explore the visually appealing and detailed areas that they were unable to experience initially , adding to the game ' s replayability and allowing fans of the series to explore multiple areas of the Continent that are not visited in the novels and existing games .
When players enter a combat scenario , they will zoom in from the overworld map to a local area view where a real-time strategy engagement will take place . They will be able to control their witchers on the battlefield , deciding which equipment , potions and tactics to employ dependent on the encountered enemy . The zoomed-in view will have a visual style that resembles figure 2 , which depicts the characters in a lifelike manner . Monsters are also presented in this way , and despite being fictional , they are portrayed faithfully to their in-world descriptions . The battles between the player ' s and witchers and the vast assortment of enemies will be dynamic , gory and violent . Characters can be ripped apart or decapitated , and an unprepared player may be forced to watch their in-game progress dissipate horribly when facing a much stronger foe . This brutally realistic visual style provides an exhilarating gameplay experience , which appears to carry genuine risk due to the dramatic consequences of misinformed tactical decisions . It resonates with The Witcher world ' s gritty , gory tone , characterised by extreme violence and constant danger .
A New Order ' s sound design will take influence from other Witcher games , including familiar aural qualities such as recognisable voice actors and monster sounds . As the events of Sapkowski ' s novels and CD Projekt Red ' s games take place simultaneously with the player ' s narrative , it is possible for procedurally generated interactions to occur between the grand-mentor and existing characters . For example , if the player moves their units to Stygga Castle during the year 1268 , they may encounter Geralt of Rivia and his companions ( Sapkowski , 2020 : 339-388 ). A plethora of distinguished voice actors have returned to embody their past characters in A New Order , such as Doug Cockle , who reprises his role as Geralt . Consequently , the game has a tone that is familiar to fans of the world , who will be excited to see their favourite characters brought to life with the same skill and verse as in previous Witcher titles .
