Players assume the position of ' grand-mentor ', a canonically fictional character who intends to restore the ' Order of Witchers ' ( Talsorian Games , 2018 ). Due to the continent ' s dangerous nature , this task can only be accomplished through cautious planning and masterful combat tactics .
The game is aimed at fans of The Witcher world and fans of the strategy game genre . A New Order diverges from Andrzej Sapkowski ' s novels and other Witchers games , as it provides players with the opportunity to create their own narrative within the world . The grand-mentor is based on characters from Witcher lore , but does not hold a place within the world ' s canon , so can interact with existing content however the player desires ( Erland of Larvik , 2018 ). This will appeal to fans , allowing them to explore their favourite content with a level of freedom and creativity that is unavailable in any existing Witcher media .
