“Everything just came along. Everybody thought it was time to bring it back.” -SHEA GREINER Patrons were eager to adopt ducks on the spot February, but the website for adoptions wasn’t up until mid-May. “At the Home Show, everybody was disappointed they couldn’t buy a duck.” With the website up, the public can visit the site to adopt a duck. They will be given a registration (an “Adopt a Duck” number), and each rubber duck will have a label on the bottom with matching numbers. “We’re actually renting them,” Greiner said of the ducks. The company provides them for other races. They send them out, collect them back and clean them up for the next race, Greiner said. She said the company also does turtle derbies, which she looked into. “But everybody was familiar with the ducks,” so that’s the direction they went. “There’s thousands of different ways you could do it,” she said.
