Born on the 3rd of October , Adina ‘ Araba Thembi celebrated her 31st birthday this year . Celebrating such a milestone in life isn ’ t the only thing she ’ s doing this year . Amongst the many things on her to-do-list in 2020 especially after an exhausting halt in life due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the solo singer and vocalist is set to release her debut album .
The VGMA multiple nominated Female Vocalist of the Year will be treating her fans to a musical masterpiece of her biography with a character called Araba who happens to be her . ‘ ARABA ’ is the title of her album with a total of 10 songs . Adina Thembi has this to say when we had a conversation with her concerning her upcoming album …
Colossium Magazine : How does it feel like to be a Libra ? Adina Thembi : I suppose it feels like being yourself , I ’ m not sure I can describe it with specific words .
CSM : You recently celebrated your birthday . Tell us about that . ADN : Yeah , on the 3rd of this month . Initially I wasn ’ t going to do much although it ’ s like a milestone for me because I just turned 31 but my friends insisted we hanged out ADN have some fun , so that ’ s what we did . I don ’ t like to go out much . Unless it ’ s to the beach then I ’ m game but this night out was fun . I ’ m not a fan of crowded places . CSM : How is it that you ’ re a performer yet you don ’ t like crowdie places ? ADN : That ’ s the thing . When it comes to performing I know it is work so I do what is expected of me . But outside that – as in my personal life , I like to take things easy and enjoy moments with myself or close relations . CSM : There are lots of celebrity rumors out there and one of them has to do with performers doping before going on stage , do you do that ? ADN : No I don ’ t . First of all , I don ’ t smoke . Not that I have a problem with it but it ’ s just not my thing . I also didn ’ t grow up around people who did , neither do my friends do ... so I never got into that . I don ’ t know about other artistes but I ’ ve realized that when you consume substances it alters your state of being which might affect your act – why do you want to go in blind when you can go in with your eyes open ? As a perfectionist I like things to go exactly as I planned so I really wouldn ’ t want anything in my system that might mess things up . CSM : How do you balance your career and personal life ? ADN : Ummm ... I try hahaha ... I have a different personality when it comes to work . I recognize work when it comes and I execute it . Then I have my personal life which I do my best not to mix up with work , something like that . CSM : What ’ s your favourite drink ? ADN : Nah , I ’ m not going to mention it . I don ’ t even drink often . I do it occasionally ; I ’ m not certain if I have a favourite ADN even if I do , I ’ m not mentioning it . CSM : What ’ s your alter ego on stage ? ADN : Do I even have one ? I ’ m not sure I have an alter ego ; I might have but haven ’ t perfected it yet . CSM : If you happen to choose one , what character will it be ? ADN : If I had one , it will be the opposite side of
