Backpacking Expedition Have you participated in day hikes and want to take it to the next level? Then this program is for you! Begin your week planning your backpacking expedition by planning your hiking routes, planning meals, packing your gear, learning about Leave No Trace camping, and learning how to read a map and use a compass. Proper preparation is key because you and your group will set out on a 3-day, 2-night backpacking expedition through Arcadia Management Area. Session 5 July 26-31 Registration Deadline: June 28, 2020 COST: $581 per girl Chocolate Chef Do you love chocolate? Then, this is the program for you! Decorate homemade cupcakes, bake your own brownies, and create other delicious desserts that you will get to share with the rest of the camp. Complete different challenges and a scavenger hunt to collect all of the ingredients that you need. You will also have the chance to participate in other camp activities like archery, swimming, and other outdoor activities. Iron Chef Think you can make the best tasting dessert and entrees? What if you could only use specific ingredients or cooking methods? You might be challenged to make the camps best grilled cheese. Sound easy? What if it had to be made on a tin can? Either your ingredients or cooking method will put you to the test. Windjammers Hoist your sails and "fly." Learn how to rig a sailboat and tack your way across lovely Larkin Pond. Perfect your sailing skills and progress towards earning one of the camp's advanced sailing awards. Get the chance to visit Newport, Rhode Island and sail in the Narragansett Bay. Campers must be intermediate level swimmers. COST: $630 per girl Session 6 August 2-7 Registration Deadline: July 5, 2020 COST: $581 per girl Pottermore Mix the beauty of Camp Hoffman with the magic of Hogwarts ™ ! Try your hand at Quidditch ™ , dragon egg painting, wand making, and more! The week concludes with a House Cup challenge! ™ Fangirl Time Can’t get enough of Divergent ™ , Percy Jackson and the Olympians ™ , The 5th Wave ™ , Harry Potter ™ , and more? If you're crazy about movies and books, this is the program for you! Adventure like your favorite characters during this awesome week. You'll plan your own theme meal, have an epic fanfiction creation session, and spend the week writing and creating your own movie! Hoffman Ranger Spend a week challenging yourself to become a pro in the outdoors—you’ll earn all the Margaret Ferris beads, cook many of your meals outside using different cooking methods, and be challenged to keep a fire going for 12 hours! You will also leave your mark on Camp Hoffman forever by completing a service project. Leadership Opportunities Counselor In Training (CIT) I Entering grades 10-12 Registration Deadline: June 28, 2020 COST: $713 per girl Prepare for a camp leadership role by spending two weeks (home on the weekends) learning teaching methods and leadership techniques. You'll also get real-life experience by working directly with campers. This is a prerequisite for Counselor in Training II. Girls must attend all dates to complete this program. Requirements: None Counselor In Training (CIT) II Entering grades 11-12 Registration Deadline: June 7, 2020 COST: $713 per girl Prepare to become a successful camp counselor by spending two weeks (home on the weekends) gaining more extensive knowledge of camp programming, team building, administrative duties, camper behavior management, and more. Girls must attend all dates to complete this program. Requirements: Completion of CIT I or equivalent Junior Leader Entering grade 12 only COST: FREE As a Junior Leader at camp, you will spend your time working directly with campers and staff. Junior Leaders will be assigned to units of campers or assist in program and administration and will have the opportunity to choose the areas they are most interested in. Acceptance to the program is based on the application (sent to you after the registration form is received), references, and a personal interview. Junior Leaders can apply for as many sessions as they wish but must be on-camp for the full session. You will spend time learning the skills needed to complete challenging trail hikes, such as, learning what gear to pack, and how to read a map and use a compass. Once your group is ready, you will participate in three separate challenging day hikes that put your knowledge and endurance to the test!
