LETTER

FROM THE CHIEF

It is an honor to share the outstanding work of the Fayetteville Police Department in this 2020 Annual Report . As you review and
reflect on the unprecedented year of 2020 , this annual report will summarize the accomplishments of the men and women of the
Fayetteville Police Department when presented with the multitude of challenges throughout the year . The department persevered
by focusing on our core values of Faith , Pride , and Dedication . As the City of Fayetteville Police Department has been committed
to the pillars of 21st Century Policing , we are constantly evaluating best policies and collaborating with the community to enhance
our relationships .
The partnership with the Community has been a shared responsibility and I am confident the key to the overall decrease in crime
is the result of the community engagement . The department is continuously looking for new ways to engage the citizens and
work with as many diverse members of our community as possible . The police department is committed to ensuring all of our
interactions leave people with their dignity and respect while not diminishing from our responsibility to protect and serve our
community .
The professional members of the police department are well trained , focused , and dedicated to providing a high level of customer
service and public safety . We work hard to ensure that our department is “ the ” desired destination in the region for those seeking
a career in public service and public safety . Our department will always be service-oriented and seek input from the community on
how we can better serve with our Community-Led initiatives . The “ Citizens Police Academy ” is an initiative that allows community
members to have a better understanding of how the police department operates from behind the scene . Although you will see the
many accomplishments of the department in this report , it also serves as a reminder that we cannot rest on the successes
of the past . We are committed to continuously redefining ourselves and pressing forward to the challenges of our profession
and building a strong empowered community , which works together to maintain a safe and secure community .
Respectfully ,
Gina V . Hawkins , Chief of Police
