FAYETTEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND CITY COUNCIL
TEAM UP TO INCREASE TRANSPARENCY
In June 2020 , the Fayetteville Police Department and the Fayetteville City Council came together to discuss community policing engagement initiatives , the open data portal and community partnerships . The police department also provided City Council members with the opportunity to take part in a virtual simulator training session . This active session was planned in direct relation to questions sweeping the country surrounding police policies and practices . The Fayetteville City Council initiated the adoption of a citywide resolution against racism , bigotry , hatred , violence , brutality and injustice against all . The Fayetteville Police Department continues to denounce police brutality and misconduct by any members
of the department .
The Fayetteville City Council took this opportunity to gain an in-depth education and
Mayor Pro Tem Jensen and Council Member Haire particpate in virtual simulator training . understanding of the Fayetteville Police Department and the policies and procedures we operate under . The City Council spent an enormous amount of time meeting in order to gain a better understanding , ask questions and provide feedback for the police department ’ s policies and operations . The session emphasized the accreditation process and the importance of voluntarily being an internationally accredited law enforcement agency . The department also took the opportunity to highlight how the Office of Professional Standards maintains internal complaints and the complaint process for citizens .
A beneficial component of this event provided the City Council Members the opportunity to participate in a virtual simulator training session . This simulator provided City Council members with decision making scenario simulation . They were placed in high stress situations and given multiple options with the choice of equipment available to officers in the
Council Member Haire actively engaged in the training simulator . simulation . Many voiced their appreciation and gratitude for being given the opportunity to participate in such a valuable training experience .
