The Fayetteville Police Department was ... the ONLY agency in the state of North Carolina to receive the award . services for law enforcement through training and technical assistance , demonstration projects and implementation of promising practices related to peer mentoring mental health and wellness programs . The Fayetteville Police Department presented a project that was based on the premise of developing knowledge and increasing the skills and abilities of law enforcement officers in regard to mental health wellness . A plan has been constructed to enhance the current peer support team . There will also be additional mental health wellness seminars conducted . The LEMHWA award will also allow law enforcement officers to receive free mental health visits from licensed health professionals that specialize in providing services to members of law enforcement . City Council also allocated over $ 90,000 in general funds to the Police Department to supplement mental health and wellness of sworn and civilian employees .

2020 COPS OFFICER WELLNESS AWARD

In Fiscal Year 2020 , the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services awarded a total of $ 4.5 million under the Law Enforcement Mental Health Wellness Act Program . Fayetteville Police Department was one of the forty agencies nationwide that received the award . We were the ONLY agency in the state of North Carolina to receive the award . The intent is for recipients to improve the delivery and access to mental health and wellness
