Did you know that winter is wonderful ? Did you think that winter is just icy and cold ? What ? Winter is so much fun ! There are so many activities that you can do ! Just think about skating on the beautiful , slippery ice and rolling a heavy , gigantic snowball . See ? You ’ re going to love winter .
The Enchanted winter
Winter feels enchanted when the icy wind blows on to you . Not as many beautiful plants , longer nights . Still , winter is beautiful , you just wait and see . It is very cold in the winter because the earth tilts away from the sun . Kiddle reports that ,” winter is the coldest time of the year . “ The farther away from the sun , the colder . Although winter is cold in Michigan , it may not be cold in other parts of the world . Some places are hot in the winter , but still colder than summer . That is why in some places , winter means dressing up in heavy coats and hats and gloves , while in other places , winter means sleeping on the grass with shorts . Winter gets dark very early in the afternoon , much earlier than in the summer . Still , it ’ s good to enjoy winter when it ’ s bright !
Even though most plants don ’ t survive the icy winter , lots do ! Evergreens do . Evergreens stay green all year round , as you can see from the name . They have their sharp pine needles while other trees lose their leaves . Many plants lose their flowers , but that doesn ’ t mean they are dead ! Lavender , for example , survives and blooms on the last days of winter . Many trees start getting leaves at the end of winter , for they have none in the cold . Still , without the flowers , winter is amazing , as you will soon see .
Days are shorter in winter , while nights are longer . That doesn ’ t mean there are less hours in a day . It just means most of the day , it is dark . Daylight savings help us be awake when it is bright , or it would be way too dark !
Evergreens keep their leaves .
