A black tank worn smoothly with the A-line shape of a Veronica M maxi skirt. A blousy top paired with Joe’s skinny jeans will help slenderize your appearance. A pretty and chunky necklace can take your look from day to night. A new season means an updated wardrobe, right ladies! Now is the time, when most of us begin scouring our closets for long sleeves, fall colors and what on earth we can wear. So, for some tips, I sought out a Valley fashion expert and owner of the Purple Skirt Boutique in Ahwatukee. When I arrived, expert and store owner Heather Cisek reminded me, that because we live in the desert, fall fashion means working with transitional pieces. She’s right! Transitional pieces can take us from summer to fall to winter, which can save money because the same items can be worn repeatedly. flip flops with this outfit now, ballet flats as it gets cooler, and boots in the winter. This ensemble takes you through all seasons. Be Bold Patterns: Maximizing Maxi Skirts: According to Heather, this look takes us into the cooler months with a style that offers several figure flattering benefits. Made of a lightweight material, the maxi skirt is perfect for our climate. The A-line shape of a Veronica M skirt covers the tummy and doesn’t hug the bum, unlike some of the too tight dresses that appeared this summer. Plus, the slight A-line won’t add bulk. And, with the absence of a roll down waist band, a tank top can be worn smoothly on top. Add a denim jacket and long necklace, and voila! You’ll even look a bit slimmer. Wear stylish 58 Hard to believe, but it’s true! Patterns tend to prevent the eye from focusing on one set area, so a bold pattern can flatter someone who wants to draw attention away from large hips or thick thighs. Heather suggests pairing a patterned maxi skirt with a solid V-neck top. Your eye will tend to go upward towards the face, which is where most of us want people to be looking anyway. So to me, this fashion tip really makes sense. Add a long necklace to elongate your figure, and you’ll be the talk of the town. If you think you can’t wear skinny jeans, think again! Heather says skinny jeans made by the Joe’s line are the way to go. Joe’s is made with a good stretchy material and the waistline will cover a muffin top. Plus, you can wear a blousy top to hide the mid-section, yet the skinny jeans still give a slender appearance on the bottom. The shape of the pockets can also help give you a thinner appearance. Also, pair your skinny jeans with a Lauren Moshi t-shirt with a hi-low cut, so it covers the bum for those who want that area concealed, wink, wink. Then, add a pretty necklace to give your outfit a finishing touch, perfect to go from day to night. Happy transitional-style season! 202 Slimming Skinny Jeans: On good authority, and maybe you just have to trust us, but the word is, the colored denim fad is over. That could be good or bad news, depending on what’s in your closet. According to Heather, the big fashion denim lines including Hudson and Joe’s, have moved on from that colored denim look. Instead, go for a good pair of blue skinny jeans to transition through the seasons.
