With universities such as Stanford, Miåchigan, Alabama, Tennesse, Florida and Arizona State calling for this young man, the last few months for him and his family have been a whirlwind. “When it comes to choosing the right college for me, the factors I’m looking for are the type of people who will surround me,” says Jalen. W But this student-athlete is not just a champ on the field, he’s an outstanding citizen on campus and a serious competitor in the school, carrying a 3.4 GPA. He tells us that, “the competitiveness of the team in a tough conference, and the educational opportunities the school will provide,” will also weigh heavily in his decision. Meanwhile, the Brown family is no stranger to athletics. Jalen’s mother Sarah and father Adrian both played college basketball. His stepfather Chuck played professional football. These influences have always been an integral part of Jalen’s life, with his family supporting him every step of the way. 202 MAGAZINE / SEPTEMBER 2013 / 202magazine.com
