Chandler regional blue distinction award
Chandler Regional Medical Center, a Dignity Health member, is now being recognized as a Blue Distinction® Center for Cardiac Care. “This is another tool to help consumers make informed decisions,” says Tim Bricker, president and CEO of Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. ‘I’m proud that Chandler Regional has met and exceeded the criteria for this important designation.” Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona’s Blue Distinction is a national designation program awarded to medical facilities demonstrating expertise in delivering quality specialty care. Post Office
New Village
Eat a hot dog and mail a package, as the United States Postal Service (USPS) opened Arizona’s first Village Post Office in downtown Tempe. On Tuesday Aug. 6, community members celebrated the opening at the Thirsty Dog 2 Go, which occupies the same building, on the corner of Fifth Street and Mill Ave. In 2011, USPS began opening Village Post Offices inside libraries, convenience stores and other local businesses. Most of these post offices are in rural areas, but now Tempe residents can drop off packages into the wee hours of 2 a.m. on weekends, a concept growing in popularity. There are now 330 of these locations across the country. hhPICTURED ABOVE: Tempe Postmaster JoLea Quintana, City Council members and Gil Schmidt, owner of Thirsty Dog 2 Go welcomed guests to the Village Post Office by handing out free hot dogs.
