When children come, they can participate
with the animals with which they feel most
comfortable. Sessions, which can last from
60 to 90 minutes, include leading a horse,
riding, feeding and bathing the animals,
which this Anthem group was happy to
accomplish on this day. There’s even a
resource room of arts and crafts to ease a
child into the environment.
“An at-risk child is a child who is
going through a divorce, a child who is
grieving the loss of a family member, it
can be a child who is being bullied at
school, or who can’t make friends,” says
Aly. “It might be a physical impairment
like cerebal palsy or multiple sclerosis,
autism, Asperger’s or Down syndrome, all
of those, we have here.”
Since the beginning of the year, Tim
Fyke has been bringing his 14-year-old
autistic son Jake to the farm on most
