We will culminate with an Olympic walk and a stand on the podium! Become A Cake Boss Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 12 PM Session: June 10-14 Grades: Rising 3rd-5th Instructor: Leigh Ann Mullins-Zugelder, Professional Baker Cost: Early Bird - $200; After May 31 - $225 ($25 supply fee) This camp is an introduction to the basic art of frosting and decorating a cake. Students will practice basic border techniques, decorative piping, drop flowers and leaves. The techniques learned will be used to finish a 6 inch layer cake that each student takes home. P.E. Critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration will make this camp a hole-in-one! Doll House Makerspace Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 12 PM Session: July 8-12 Grades: Rising 4th-6th Instructor: Tara Stumpf, LS Visual Arts Instructor Cost: Early Bird - $200; After May 31 - $225 ($25 supply fee) Campers will be constructing their own doll houses with building codes. They will also be decorating the interior and making dolls to live in the house. Introduction to Debate Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 12 PM Session: July 8-12 Grades: Rising 7th-10th Instructor: Ben Crist, Latin Instructor Cost: Early Bird - $175; After May 31 - $200 Debate trains campers in logic, ethics, use of evidence, and persuasion. Intro to Debate exposes campers to the terminology, structure, and technique of various debate forms, while providing specific instruction in a modified form of Congressional Debate that is used in local, state, and national competitions. The week will culminate in a formally judged round. Intermediate Debate/Mock Trial Monday - Friday, 1 to 4 PM Session: July 8-12 Grades: Rising 9th-12th Instructor: Ben Crist, Latin Instructor Cost: Early Bird - $175; After May 31 - $200 Prerequisite: Introduction to Debate camp at CPA or approval from camp instructor. A new offering designed for those who learned the basics in Become a Cake Boss (first course) and are ready for the next level. Learn new skills using fondant, gum paste, modeling chocolate, and more. This class will build on the foundation of elementary argumentation and debate toward the goal of campers participating in a modified mock trial. A local attorney will be a guest speaker. Beginning LEGO™ Robotics/Stop Motion Brentwood Driver Education ((CPA Campus) Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM (Full Day Sessions) Session 1: June 17-21 Session 2: July 8-12 Grades: Rising K-4th Instructor: Wesley Diggs, CPA FIRST LEGO League™ Instructor Cost: Early Bird - $250; After May 31 - $275 Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4 PM, and Friday, 2:30 PM dismissal Session: July 15-19 Grades: Rising 10th-12th Cost: Early Bird - $425; After May 31 - $450 Students get a chance to build amazing robots using LEGO™ WeDo sets and create their own stop-motion videos using sets and tons of LEGO™! This camp will focus on building LEGO™ robots and programming them using iPads. Campers will create stories with LEGO™ sets and characters to make a fun, short video of their own. On the final day of camp, copies of student videos will be shared with parents. 8 / SUMMER AT CPA 2019 This course consists of 30 hours of classroom training and 6 hours behind-the-wheel training. The behind-the-wheel training is completed in three two-hour sessions. Most driving lessons will be done from class with some lessons possibly scheduled after class or on Saturdays.
