all I wanted to burst into tears, feel strong arms of my dad and hear mum’s voice, “Don’t be afraid! It’s just your dream.” I looked at Amy who was looking around trying to persuade herself that it was a mirage, it couldn’t be a real life. Yesterday morning it was a nice, lively, hospitable town but in a very short time it turned into a bunch of ruins. We both knew that it would never be the same as earlier and we wouldn’t be the same any more.

We reached my uncle’s house hoping to find out something new or maybe meet my dad. My uncle told that he had seen lots of arrested men at the station that morning but he hadn’t seen my dad among them. He gave us some food and told to go back to the forest and wait for my dad. It was to dangerous to walk along the main street, therefore my uncle was leading us by the side streets until we reached the outskirts of the town. It seemed that it was safe to go further and my uncle wanted to leave us but suddenly a soldier came out of one house. He was smoking and wasn’t looking at us. My uncle whispered, “Run! Quickly! I will direct his attention.” Amy and I began to run as quickly as we could. We heard shots, curse words, uncle’s scream behind us but we didn’t stop. I don’t know how long we were running but when we stopped we saw that we were standing near an old fallen house. Amy noticed a small door in the foundation of the house. We opened the door and got inside. It was very dark here and we couldn’t see anything. Amy was shivering and whispering the prayer “Our Father”. I hugged her shoulders and we were saying the same prayer again and again. But we were not alone in that shelter… A candle lighted up and we saw three armed men.
