Peacock Contemporary Dance
Peacock Contemporary Dance Company was
founded in China in 2017. It started with a
donation from the arts foundation of China’s
most iconic dancer and choreographer Yang
Liping. She has been a major influence in
Chinese dance over the past 40 years. Many
of Yang’s early works took their inspiration
from the traditional dance and music of her
native province Yunnan and her ethnicity as a
Bai, a Chinese minority group. It was created
after the success of her first truly international
production, Under Siege.
