For the past couple of years, Herb Werner was the chapter President. Just recently, Herb decided it was time for him to step down, and Megan Hammond took over. She is very excited about this role and looks forward to making the chapter even better. She hopes to bring out more of a community/friendship feel to this group.
United Spinal has just launched a Grassroots Advocacy Program and selected 6 people to be regional leaders across the nation. Megan was elected by national to become the Great Lakes Regional Advocacy Coordinator. She will act as a leader in this region to disseminate public policy information, gather what other chapters are doing to promote change, help chapters advocate locally and on a state level, and ask chapters to coordinate calls to action with their members. We are still looking for a Northeast Ohio Chapter Advocacy Representative to help her with this mission. If you are interested, please e-mail her at [email protected].
The next big event for United Spinal is Roll on Capitol Hill. This event brings advocates from across the nation together with one purpose in mind: talk to legislative leaders about how certain public policy issues affect them personally and ask them to support those with disabilities. This event will be held June 24-27, 2018. Registration is closed, but if you would like information for next year, please e-mail Megan at the address above.
By signing up to be a United Spinal Member and selecting the Northeast Ohio Chapter (Chesterland) as your chapter choice, you will be added to our e-mail list. You can ask to be removed at anytime (of course) but this will allow us to send you information about our upcoming meetings, recreational events, and equipment donations.
We are very excited about the possible engagement and change that our chapter could bring locally, and on a state and national level! If you have any questions or concerns, please, do not hesitate to contact Megan!

Parking at Old Brooklyn Campus
If you drive a normal vehicle the parking garage is fine. The parking garage roof is less than 84 inches, meaning a FULL SIZE VEHICLE (van or truck with a lift up cap) WILL NOT FIT in the parking garage.
For vehicles that will not fit in the garage, we have made arrangements with Security to park FULL SIZED VEHICLES in an open lot located at the back of the facility. Every spot has a Permit Parking Only sign, but Security is aware that FULL SIZED VEHICLES are permitted to park in these spots.
