2019 Dawson City International Short Film Festival Program DCISFF_2019_program_web | Page 7
Of all the many events in Dawson each year, none
come close to the Dawson City International Short Film
Festival for the self-indulgent luxury of sitting through a
weekend’s worth of creative, innovative, and compelling
short films from across the planet and around the corner.
The DCISFF has been a personal favourite since the first
one two decades ago (when the plywood-plank-like
chairs challenged even the hardiest of backsides). Thank
you to the volunteers, filmmakers, organizers, and audience members for
making this event a highlight on our social calendars, and congratulations
to the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture on twenty years of
entertainment and expanding our worldview.
Butter the popcorn, crack a cold drink, and take your seat. Time to enjoy
the show.
Wayne Potoroka
Mayor, City of Dawson
On behalf of the Government of Yukon, I would like
to welcome you to the 20th Annual Dawson City
International Short Film Festival.
Taking place in the Traditional Territory of the Tr’ondëk
Hwëch’in First Nation, the festival has become a standout
showcase for a diverse array of genres and illuminating
workshops and presentations. I hope you are every
bit as excited as I am to take in the work of our many
outstanding Yukon filmmakers, as well as some first-rate national and
international films.
To the organizers, sponsors and many hardworking volunteers,
congratulations for putting together another exciting festival. To the
many talented filmmakers and presenters: thank you for sharing your art,
knowledge and passion.
I wish everyone a fabulous and enriching weekend.

Minister of Tourism and Culture
