WVUSD: 2019/2020 Year-End Results
As well, the K-12 Staff Development Day was an opportune time for various site grade level or
subject area teams to come together and build camaraderie, critically examine data and
instructional methodology, and refine and improve practices for students. It is clear that a spirit
and motivation for collaboration exists across District schools and within each site.
The District collaborated with local city, county, and state officials throughout the course of the
year particularly during the time leading up to and through the school closures period due to the
COVID-19 pandemic. All District divisions collaborated on a weekly basis with their respective
LACOE division counterparts to receive timely updates and recommendations. This
collaboration was instrumental for districts across the state, including Walnut Valley, to assist
with designing effective Distance Learning plans, and addressing the legal, political, and
financial implications of the school closures.
Future Focus:
● Maintain trust and confidence with all stakeholders during the global pandemic
● Ensure collaboration with all stakeholders in designing effective learning experiences for
students as a result of school closures, as well as the safe transition back to regular
schooling
● Increase communication with parents and other stakeholders through the expansion of
Let’s Talk! and other communication platforms
● Continue to organize and facilitate activities that promote teamwork and raise staff morale
● Continue recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of Walnut Valley staff
● Continue building relationships with WVEA and CSEA, including structured and ongoing
meetings with District and site administration
● Continue developing relationships between the Human Resources Division
administrators and Personnel Commission
● Engage and educate the Walnut Valley community and stakeholders regarding the
District’s budget needs and challenges
● Explore and develop opportunities for collaboration time and professional learning within
the school day at all school sites
● Strengthen outreach to “at-promise” student populations
● Ensure consistent levels of customer service across all divisions and school sites through
the development of a customer service plan
