Roofs on four historic
barns near our front gate
received restoration with
the installation of cedar roof
shingles. Copper flashing
detail looks beautiful on the
barns. The largest barn,
(Carpenter Barn) designed
by the Lawson’s architect
William Merigold, was built
in 1913.
Huge Palladian doors
from the Carpenter Barn
were gingerly removed
and delivered to Green
Lake craftsman Nolan
Wallenfang for restoration.
Our maintenance team
exquisitely planned and
executed this delicate task!
A rotted section of the
bottom of the sliding pine
door was replaced with
pine harvested from our
grounds.
The hardware for the lower
set of doors is in perfect
condition after 100 years.
With a spot of grease and a
rub of oil, they are ready for
the next 100 years!
