G
rowing up in Port
Elizabeth (PE),
Thabiso Mosia got
to learn about sports
broadcasting first
hand from his father.
“My dad used to be a sports com-
mentator on SABC’s Radio Xhosa
(now Umhlobo Wenene), I used to
attend soccer matches with him
all the time and would watch him
go to local football matches in the
community to record the games,
then coming back home and do
commentary on them,”
remembers Thabiso. After
studying journalism, playing sports
in school and being equipped with
the knowledge from his father, the young
Mosia was ready for the sports
broadcasting world.
Like a fanatic he is, all his jobs have been in
sports. Before starting at Kaya FM in 2007 as
a sports writer, Mosia worked for a sports
betting company as a sports betting analyst.
