Storm Wrestlers Compete in Region Tournament

The wrestling team traveled to Parkston to compete in the Region 3B Tournament and hopefully pave their way to state. It was a good day for the Storm wrestlers with 8 wrestlers placing and earning a spot at the state tournament. The team also placed 3rd.

Kort Schonebaum lost two matches and did not place. Mason Hood also lost two matches and did not place. Frank Even won four matches and lost one for 3rd place in the 152 weight class.

In the 170 weight class, Finn Hanson won two matches and lost one for 2nd place. Also placing that day from Gregory was Jackson Eklund with 1st, JJ Beck with 1st, Owen Hansen with 2nd, Jordan Vosika with 3rd, Tyler Murray with 4th, and Ethan Dargatz with 4th.

Storm Wrestlers Head to State Tournament

The Burke/Gregory Storm Wrestlers headed to Rapid City to compete in the State B Wrestling Tournament on February 22 and 23. Eight wrestlers competed at the state tournament, hoping to be the best of the best.

In the 106 weight class, Owen Hansen won his first two matches, lost his third, and then won his fourth and fifth matches for 3rd place. Wrestling at 138, Jordan Vosika lost his first two matches and did not place. In the 145 weight class, Jackson Eklund won his first three matches and was defeated in the championship round to receive 2nd place.

Wrestling at 152, Frank Even won his first match, lost his second match, won his next two matches, lost his fifth match, and then won his final match for 5th place. In the 160 weight class, Tyler Murray lost his first match, won his second, and then lost his third and did not place. In the 170 weight class, Finn Hanson lost, won, and then lost and did not place.

Wrestling at 182, JJ Beck won his first two matches, lost his third, and then won his last two matches to place third. Wrestling at 285, Ethan Dargatz lost his first two matches and did not place. Congratulations to all Storm Wrestlers on a great season.
