2016 COMMUNITY TENNIS HIGHLIGHTS
USTA Hawaii brought tennis to community events that included the Great Aloha
Run Health and Fitness Expo, the YMCA Healthy Kids Day, the ESPN Kids Fest,
and Youth Day at the Capitol. High School tennis players and Junior Team Tennis
players volunteered at these events, helping us to give children an opportunity
to try tennis. We would like to give a special thank you to McKinley High School,
Farrington High School and the Kilauea Junior Tennis Club for volunteering.
FAMILY FUN DOUBLES
The 7th Annual Family Fun Doubles brought 25 families together in the
parent-child event of the year. Held at Central Oahu Regional Park every
summer, they outlasted the heat and enjoyed the camaraderie. There were
many proud moments among family members.
Champions Crowned:
Division A: Jerry and Warren Domingo
Division B: Lito and Logan Duldulao
Division C: Yunan and Justin Lu
Green Ball Division: Aaron and Evan Yamato
Tennis in schools provides kids with a fun, easy and organized introduction to the
sport that can be played in a variety of spaces. USTA Hawaii visited over 40 schools
and serviced over 3500 children. 80 teachers were trained to offer tennis
year-round.
