Arts Fest Demo Tent

Saturday 1-5 All artist demonstrations take place at the Riverside Park( main festival site) unless marked with a r.. Kid Friendly
HORST BERLOW ~ Painting with Watercolour. Learn to paint exquisite watercolour scenes from seasoned artist Horst Berlow. He will give a demonstration as well as assist the public in making their own 8x10 inch painting.
PATTY JACKSON ~ Soapstone Carving: Worry Stones & Keepsakes. Participants will carve their own piece of soapstone into amulets, worry stones and keepsakes using hand tools. Guests will have a‘ take home keepsake’ to remember their visit to the Festival.
CANADA WILDERNESS ARTIST RESIDENCY ~ What the Muck’ s About. Come and join a gaggle of nature loving artists from across Canada and Australia for crafting and conversation at a family-friendly, interactive arts table. The artists are with the Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency and will have just completed a two-week journey down the Yukon River.
ANDREW GODSALVE ~ Terrane Non / boundaries of the Yukon. Over the course of the Yukon River canoe journey from Whitehorse to Dawson with the Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency, Andrew will make field notes on flagging tape at stops along the route. These“ observation strips” will be woven together to create a large mesh sculpture.

Dawson City is known for its tales of ghostly inhabitants so why not make them their own town to live in? Using vintage patterns, card stock and fairy lights we will be creating a“ ghost town” to light up the darkening Dawson skies. Come and create a house, cabin or storefront to add to our little town, who knows who might move in?
TAMIKA KNUTSON ~ Jewelry Techniques Local jeweler, Tamika Knutson, will demonstrate of a variety of jewelry making techniques; including a ring band with a bezel setting. She will also demo piercing and sawing metal for jewelry.
JOELLA HOGAN ~ Cold Process Soap Making & Boreal Forest Plants. Please join Joella to create either a“ Soap on a Rope” or“ Soap Tea” with handcrafted soap. Participants will also be able to help make soap by weighing out ingredients, stirring the oils, pouring into the molds & cutting the bars. Visitors will be able to see, smell and feel the plants and ingredients that she uses to create the soaps.
