NOTIFY YOUR AREA RATING CHAIRWOMAN OR COURSE RATING DIRECTOR OF SIGNIFCANT MODIFICATIONS TO THE GOLF COURSE

The PWGA Rep should notify the Course Rating Committee of any significant changes to the course, whether permanent or temporary. For temporary changes, the committee will decide whether or not it will be necessary to modify the rating temporarily. For permanent changes, once they are complete, the course will need to be re-rated or the rating will need to be adjusted. Significant changes would be: change in the length of a hole or holes; adding or removing bunkers, water, etc.; changing the height of rough by an inch or more; contour mowing of fairways making them wider or more narrow by 10 yards or more; changing the size of greens; moving OB stakes closer to fairway by 10 yards or more; any other changes which affect the playing length or difficulty of the hole in a significant manner.

MAINTAINING GOLF COURSES TO THEIR COURSE RATINGS

A golf course is rated on its effective playing length and its playing difficulty under normal conditions. If the length or normal playing difficulty changes materially, Handicap Indexes will be distorted. A difference of 18 yards will change the Yardage Rating by 0.1 strokes for women. It is best to seek the cooperation of the golf course staff in maintaining both length and normal playing difficulty at a constant level.
