Jennifer Barrington soprano
Perth born Soprano Jennifer Barrington is a
graduate from the West Australian Academy of
Performing Arts and was a Wesfarmers Arts young
artist with the West Australian Opera. Making
her professional stage debut as Papagena in Die
Zauberflöte , she has gone on to perform numerous
roles including Gianetta - L’elisir d’amore, Barbarina
- Le nozze di Figaro, Yum-Yum - The Mikado, Niece
1 - Peter Grimes, Adele - Die Fledermaus and Kate
Pinkerton - Madame Butterfly .
Solo concert appearances and broadcasting up until 2015 includes - The Big
Sing - West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Composer workshops - Tasmanian
Symphony Orchestra, Herald Sun Finals - Orchestra Victoria, Handel’s Messiah
- Heidelberg Symphony, Gorecki Symphony of Sorrowful songs, Orff’s Carmina
Burana - Fremantle Symphony, Beethoven Mass in C, Haydn Die Jahrzeiten,

Ensemble.
Jennifer’s engagements for 2016 saw her performing the role of Gianetta in WA
Opera’s 2016 production of L’elisir D’amore, soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana with
the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, her New Zealand debut as soloist in
Orff’s Carmina Burana with Auckland Choral, soloist in “A last night at the proms”
with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, soloist in Handel’s Messiah with
Collegium Musicum at the Perth Concert Hall and soloist in “Symphony in the
city” with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
Engagements for 2017 include Jennifer’s Italian debut as soloist in Faure’s
Requiem at Teatro Massimo di Bellini in Catania, Sicily, as well as soloist in
Mozart’s Solemn Vespers with Victoria Chorale.

Helen Medlyn – honoured as an Arts Foundation of
New Zealand Laureate in 2002 and the recipient of
an MNZM for her services to the performing arts in
2013 – is one of New Zealand’s most versatile and
popular singer-actresses. A greatly-respected and
much-loved performer, this 50-year-veteran of the
stage maintains a strong presence in the worlds
of opera, musical theatre, the concert platform,
straight drama, oratorio, cabaret and art song
throughout Australasia.
