DRESS CODE The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board has adopted a mandatory uniform policy for all Elementary students. Students shall be in compliance with the following policy: Bottoms • Navy blue bottoms: Standard uniform pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers, not more than 5 inches above the knee. Navy corduroy pants are allowed for winter wear. • No jeans, biking shorts, stretch pants, Capri pants, cargo pants, or sweatpants. • Belts will be worn on bottoms with belt loops. Shirts, Blouses & Sweatshirts • Kindergarten – 5th Grade Students: Burgundy shirts/blouses with a collar. Turtlenecks are acceptable in winter. No T-shirts. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. • Pre-K Students: Navy shirts/blouses with a collar. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. • Only school sweatshirts, navy blue or burgundy sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets or parkas may be worn inside the building. • BR FLAIM t-shirts may be worn on Fridays in place of the required burgundy shirt. • Approved club uniforms (scouts) may be worn on club meeting days. Shoes • Closed toe shoes/sneakers only. No sandals, flip-flops, light-up shoes or Crocs. Wheelies are not permitted. Uniforms are widely available for purchase from any local department store, discount store (such as Wal-Mart), consignment shops, uniform companies and catalogs. As long as the clothing meets the uniform requirements, it does not matter where it is purchased. BR FLAIM t-shirts and sweatshirts can be purchased at the school. Look for notice of these sales in the fall. The approved disciplinary action for students in noncompliance with the mandatory uniform policy: 16 1ST Offense Letter of reminder (warning) from the principal to parent/guardian requiring a signature to be returned the following day. 2ND Offense Telephone call by principal to the parent/guardian.
