Louisiana Law: School Zones and Cell Phone Use
If you're driving through a school zone during posted hours, it is against the law to use your cell phone
or other mobile device for any reason, including:

Making a phone call
•
Texting
•
Social networking
If you are caught illegally using your cell phone in a school zone, you will be charged with a moving
violation. The fine for a first offense is $175 and any second or subsequent offenses carry a fine of
up to $500.
DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
Emergency procedures have been established by the School Board and the school.
The school does have a crisis plan for emergencies.
Should an emergency situation arise, listen to the radio or television for announcements concerning
school dismissals. Please do not call the school. This jams our telephone lines and ties up personnel
who are responsible for handling the emergency dismissal procedures.
DISCIPLINE POLICY
EBR Parish School Board has a student Code of Conduct that outlines a student’s rights and
responsibilities. This Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced at BR FLAIM as the teachers and staff
feel a professional and moral responsibility to our students to guide them in the development of that
citizenship skill necessary to function at a successful level as a productive, law-abiding member of our
society.
BR FLAIM is a Positive Behavior School (PBIS). Each teacher is required to have a discipline plan in
place. Families will receive a copy of the classroom rules and procedures, as well as consequences
and rewards. Blue conduct sheets are sent home weekly for parents to sign and return. This will
keep you informed in regards to your child’s weekly behavior. Feel free to discuss with your students
how to make better choices.
Discipline on the bus will be handled by parents and the bus driver. Bus drivers will make every
attempt to solve problems by contacting parents. If there is no improvement, the bus driver is to
contact the school principal. The principal may suspend bus privileges for students who do not follow
bus safety rules.
