Quick and Easy Animation Techniques
Workshop with Mike Maryniuk
Working with found objects, dollar store art supplies and a wide number of still
photography tricks and avant-garde filmmaking techniques, participants will learn
how to add magic to their short film projects to create animated titles or create a
dynamic viral short film.
Techniques including:
Light painting, printing video to paper for reanimation, scratch animation, hand
painted film and hand manipulation techniques.
Mike Maryniuk was born in Winnipeg, but raised in the rural back country of Manitoba.
A completely self-taught film virtuoso, Maryniuk’s film world is an inventive hybrid
of Jim Henson, Norman McLaren and Les Blank. Maryniuk’s films are a visual stew of
hand-made ingredients and are full of home cooked wonderfulness. His films have
screened at Sundance, TIFF, HotDocs, SXSW and around the globe.
