Several national collaborating organizations hosted
Awareness Day gatherings throughout the country to
watch the Awareness Day Live! webcast on May 5. The
National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice
produced a video in recognition of Awareness Day,
showing the many opportunities for behavioral health
interventions within the juvenile justice system. The video
is available on www.samhsa.gov/children.
SAMHSA programs including Project Launch, Project
Aware, and Healthy Transitions, as well as federal
partners such as the Office of Head Start, supported
Awareness Day efforts and encouraged communities
across the country to participate in activities throughout
the month of May.
Awareness Day 2016 provided individuals and
organizations with the opportunity to share their
personal stories about children’s mental health on
Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Thanks in large part
to the online engagement of national collaborating
organizations, Awareness Day earned more than 127
million media impressions.
