WVUSD: 2016/2017 Year-End Results
There continues to be a need for professional development targeting the following areas:
• Strategies to close the achievement gap
• More support in data analysis to directly impact instructional strategies to support
“ALL STUDENTS”
• Training on the new California Accountability System
• Establish a Districtwide Leadership Team to develop a strategic plan for the
implementation of Next Generation Science Standards
• Continued training and implementation with Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study with
teachers in grades K-8
• Implement second phase of the Illuminate warehouse data system with technology
coaches, on-site trainers, and administration
• Integrate a cohesive differentiation model to help “ALL STUDENTS” with District
professional development opportunities
• Mini-University 5.0 as a means for continuing with ongoing support of certificated and
classified employees
• Continue Diversity training for staff and expand training to include students
• Utilize “Learning Walks/Peer Observation” in instructional practices
• Provide professional development days funded by the Educator Effectiveness Grant
• Increase social and emotional supports for students
• Integrate Project Lead The Way (PLTW) with Guided Language Acquisition Design
(GLAD) model strategies
• Provide support to K-8 teachers for the ELA/ELD textbook adoption
• Provide behavior management/health and safety professional development for childcare
employees
