1. Age? 14 years old
2. Nicknames? I get called Madz and Maddidas
3. Do you remember your very first race meeting? Yes, my first meeting was at Wellington and I remember that Dad had to hold my hand and walk me to the grid because I was so nervous!
4. How do you like to prepare for a race meeting? I go to the gym twice a week. I also look over my data and Go Pro footage and if it’s a new track then I try and YouTube footage from other drivers so I can learn the track.
5. What is your favourite circuit? My favourite track in Australia is Todd Road because it has some great passing places and my favourite track in New Zealand is Tokoroa because of the fast corner at the end of the straight I also got my best result in Rotax Challenge there.
6. Who do you enjoy racing against the most? I enjoy racing against Dylan Drysdale
7. Does your helmet design have a special significance? My helmet
was specially designed for me by my good friend Mitch Baker. The
tracks on top are from my first year doing the Rotax Challenge plus
my home track in the centre. It’s also really special to me
because I had to save up and pay for the helmet and paint job
myself.
8. Best moment in your career so far? I got two fifths at
Nationals, one in Junior Yamaha and the other in Junior Rotax.
I also got fourth at Rotax Challenge at Tokoroa.
9. Worst moment in your career so far? When I got driven over
at the last round of the Rotax Challenge in 2013 and broke my
arm. I was gutted that I didn’t get to race in the final because I was
at Starship hospital in Auckland.
10. Future racing goals? I would love to race at Euro Max and at the
Las Vegas Super Nats.
11. What do you like to do away from the track? I like to spend time with friends and do some shopping.
12. What was the last movie you watched? Fast and Furious 4
13. Favourite Band/Song? My favourite song at the moment is Black Magic
I also really like Ed Sheeran.
14. Biggest fear(s)? Heights and making mistakes.
15. Worst habit? Not completing things until the very last minute.
16. Holiday destination you most want to visit? I would love to visit Bora Bora.
17. If you won the lotto, what is the first thing you would do with the money?
I would take my family to Europe and race at Euro Max.
18. 3 things you couldn’t live without? My friends, family and Black Forest Chocolate.
19. Greatest advice you have been given? ‘It doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winnings winning ’
