Matt Gilbert redshirted the 2014 season while expanding his training base as a middle distance runner for the
Husker track and field team...earned Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selections both semesters and was a Tom
Osborne Citizenship Team member.
2013 (Sophomore)
Gilbert provided regular contributions among Nebraska’s top-seven runners...opened the season with a fifth-place
finish in the University Division in a time of 19:21.18 at the Augustana Twilight...was NU’s No. 8 finisher at the Woody
Greeno/Nebraska Invitational, placing 14th overall in a time of 26:12.40...was again the Huskers’ No. 8 runner at
the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, finishing 135th overall (26.03.4)...closed the season strong as NU’s No. 5
finisher and in eighth-place overall at the Tim Young Invitational...finished seventh among the Huskers at the Big Ten
Championships, taking 80th overall (26:22.8), before closing the season as NU’s No. 5 finisher at the NCAA Midwest
Regional Championships with a time of 32:13.1 to finish 87th overall...captured academic All-Big Ten honors for the
first time while adding spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll both semesters.
