Since its formation in 2011, The Australian
Haydn Ensemble has quickly established a
reputation as a high calibre period instrument
group specialising in late baroque and early
classical repertoire. Its rapid success has
firmly established it as a strong presence in the
Australian music scene.
Ironwood is a renowned Australian periodinstrument ensemble lauded for its historically
-informed exploration of repertoire from the
late-Renaissance to the late Romantic eras as
well as its support of newly commissioned works.
Established in 2006, the ensemble draws on
a wealth of experience and expertise bringing
together specialist leaders in the field including
violinists Rachael Beesley, Alice Evans, Julia
Fredersdorff, Anna McMichael and Robin Wilson,
cellist Daniel Yeadon and historical keyboardist
Neal Peres Da Costa.
Under the Artistic direction of Principal violinist
Skye McIntosh, the AHE has developed a
flourishing series at the Sydney Opera House
Utzon Room and at the Australian National
University as 2014 Ensemble in residence.
The ensemble has presented a host of unique
chamber music and orchestral programs working
with a range of world-class musicians including
Neal Peres Da Costa, Erin Helyard, Catherine
MackIntosh (UK), Marc Destrubé (Canada).

Ironwood presents at festivals and concert series
around Australia, and has appeared regularly
in Europe and America. With several innovative
recordings on the ABC Classics and Vexations840
labels, Ironwood is regularly broadcast nationally
on ABC FM and around the world. Ironwood has
an ongoing relationship with the Bundanon Trust
Artists in Residence program and, in collaboration
with festivals and educational institutions, runs
Developing Artist programs in Victoria and NSW.
