Girls’
Girls A HBSS League-3rd place Div 1. Played:10 Won:8
Lost:2 Sets for:21 Against:3
The league was very even with 5 extremely competitive
teams. Our best results were beating Taradale twice,
taking a set off NGHS and beating HGHS once.
HBPB Champs-3rd place. Played:5 Won:3 Lost:2 Sets
for:12 Against:8
On the back of some very tough league games, we
entered this tournament with some confidence. Three
games stand out. Our 1-3 loss to NGHS in pool play. Our
disappointing 2-3 semifinal loss to HGHS after leading
2-0! Finally our great fightback to beat Taradale (playoff
for 3rd/4th) after being down 0-2.
Seeding Tournament-2nd place. Played:4 Won:3 Lost:1
Sets for:9 Against:4
The HB region had two spots in the top 32 at Nationals
and we were quietly determined to get one of them. This
was achieved when we beat HGHS 3-1 in our last game.
This was a very exciting, emotional game.
NZSS Nationals-12th place Div 2. Played:9 Won:2
Lost:7 Sets for:9 Against:24
While it was great to make the top 32, it was now extremely important that we avoided the dreaded relegation spots in Div 2. This was achieved when we beat
Waimea Green 3-1. Our other significant result was a
narrow 0-3 (23-25;25-27;20-25) loss to Bethlehem.
Bethlehem ended up winning Division 2!
Interschool vs Tawa @ Tawa College Won 3-0
It was great that Tawa fronted up with a team for us
to play this year. The result of this game was never in
doubt, as Tawa struggled with the serving power of
Natalya Taylor and the deceptive float serve of Olivia
Addis.
Girls B 9th place HBSS League Div 2. Played:10 Won:1
Lost:9 Sets for:2 Against:26
Team:Oakleigh Duncan © -MVP; Jacqueline Beauchamp -MIP; Joelie Crossan; Holly Robertshaw (c);
Olivia Cannon; Nada Kroell; Julie Walther; Hannah
Martin.
Despite not having a lot of success, this team still had
lots of fun. Their best result was obviously their narrow
2-1 win against HNHS Y10, but they also got close to
taking sets in a number of other games.
Girls Social 10th place HBSS League Div 2. Played 10
Won:0 Lost:10 Sets for:3 Against:27
Team:Abbie Lochhead -MVP; Bayley Thomsen; Madi
Hall; Alicia Robertson; Catalina Schneider; Courtney
James; Olivia Broadhurst; Hannah Murdoch; Harriet
Angell -MIP; Rebekah Tests; Eve Fuller; Nicole Wessels.
This team did not win any games, but they had a good
time on court and were always very supportive of each
others efforts. Their best game was a narrow 53-54 loss
to HNHS Y9 team.

Team:Holly Brittin ; Hannah Andrews; Chantelle Cunningham; Daisy Gittings; Sophie Hooper -MVP; Kendyll
Miller; Anna Murfitt; Marleen Slabbekoorn -MIP.
This team was entered with the sole purpose of development. Their two wins were against Iona B and HNHS
B, while they took sets off Woodford, Hastings Christian
and Karamu.
Girls Y9 6th place HBSS League Div 2. Played:10 Won:4

Team:Molly Lee © -MVP; Holly Bensemann; Sally
Cottrell; Francesca Frost; Phoebe James -MIP; Felicity Keane; Phoebe Lange; Manisha Phartyal; Chanelle
Stride; Georgia Telford; Mikaela Wroe
This team was our most successful in Div 2 and is probably indicative of the sort of talent that exists in the Y9
girls. The future of girls volleyball looks very good. Their
wins were against Iona C, Iona B, HNHS Social and Karamu 3.
