Havelock North High School table tennis enthusiasts had a very successful and enjoyable 2015. There was much enthusiasm and great participation for our Tuesday night competition with 12 teams of three players. This tournament has three grades and we were superbly represented in all of the grades. Our teams were an excellent mix of nationalities, personalities and experience. Competition from surrounding high schools was fierce and it was very pleasing to see some of the younger teams experience success in the competition. Havelock North High School dominated the C grade competition with Crisell Jaque Peralta, Kiyora Kokubun and Mitch Quiding of the HNHS Paddle Swingers taking out 1st place, closely followed by Luke Cunningham, Lochie Hulena and Samuel Miller of the HNHS Black Panthers in 2nd place. Also a huge thank you to Front Row: Crisell Jaque Peralta, Ami Yamamoto, Larissa Kent, Freyja Appleyard, Nina Blair, Samantha Tait, Sian Remnant, Kiyora Kokubun, family, friends and supporters who made sure our Mitch Quiding athletes were at the right place at the right time and Absent: Sam Miller, Ross Marriott, Malachi Heyward, Riki Karena for your support watching teams on tournament nights. Looking forward to further table tennis adventures in 2016 The following is a reflection of this season from the HNHS Black Panthers – an upcoming force to be reckoned with! When we enrolled we were all social players with little experience and confidence. We started off in C grade and through practice and tournaments we progressed to runners up. We thoroughly enjoyed playing together as a team and the social aspect of playing other schools and teams from HNHS. We would encourage anyone who is interested in playing table tennis (at any level) to do so under the wonderful guidance of Mr Lowry. Lochie Hulena, Samuel Miller, Luke Cunningham
