Boys 1st XI Team The season started in October for the 1st XI boys’ with a game against Hutt Valley HS at Cornwall Park. With the loss of just three players after Christmas, the team was pretty stable throughout. With Callum Bensemann, Liam Reeves and Dan Fridd al l leaving, their losses were allayed by the return of Cameron Webber, Andrew Breen and William Wallace and the promotion of Harry Young and Jez Reeves from the colts. Sean Morrison was named as the new captain. Sean and Harry Young provided the opening partnership. Harry continued his run scoring form and the batting line up of Cam Webber, Andrew Breen and Harry Algie all chipped in with good innings. The bowlers, with Darcy Garland spearheading the pace attack, were very good, with Liam Morgan, Mitchell Keip and Jarrod Lobb backing up Darcy. Unfortunately, getting them all on the park at the same time was the hardest part. When Mitch played he was always a hand full for the opposition, but the school production limited his appearances. With Caleb Manning unavailable, Jez Reeves took up the mantle of leading spinner and did very well, supported by Cameron. Jack Francois popped up in a variety of roles, sometimes with the bat, more with the ball or taking a vital catch.
