Welcome once again to the ‘Good Ship’ HNHS. It’s been a full on year for all of the crew (staff) here on the ship and sadly we are saying goodbye to a number of members. Mrs Rimmer and Mr Pereira have been members of this ship for the last 36 years and they are off to the green land of free time and visiting the grand children. Mrs Gray too has been here for over 25 years and she has decided to sail away on another cruse ship as she does. Mrs Orton will be leaving us and on a plane to Rome or European soon. Mr Parry will be departing this year to ride his bike and spend time in a canoe playing polo or something. This is the 40th year of sailing for the Good Ship HNHS and at the being of the year we celebrated with a meeting of staff old and new. It was great to see how many have taken different travels over the years and how some many of them have had a huge impact on the way that the Good Ship HNHS was built and continuesto run. We have also had our lower decks or the 100 Block re-done so it will develop with future students and future crew members. It now lights up by itself and has “learning Areas and Common Areas” as well as the greatest looking court area and the view just gets better and better. Next on the horizon will be the “Arts Centre” with a new Auditorium. It may take a few trips but I am sure it will look and be amazing. As we say goodbye to the senior members of our crew (students, like year 13’s or people just moving on) we also have to say the same to some of the crew that are to moving on to a new port or a new ship. Mrs McLean left us last year to have a cute little girl, and now will be leaing the crew for good and moving in her “mum van” ship to somewhere out in the country side in Central Hawkes’ Bay. Mrs Brondal has also decided to move overseas. We hope that all of her friends and family are safe and in good health over in France. Miss White is jumping ship and following her pirate of a boyfriend to the port of Auckland. Where she will be living until she returns to get married next November. Mrs Fenton started off the year thinking that she would be doing relief for 2 weeks, but we have loved having her so much she has stayed with us for a full year. I know the P.E. department will miss you. But we will see you offen as you are married to the Captain. And Finally Mrs Taylor will be going on Maternity leave, her family will be getting a new member. We wish you and the baby all of the best in the future and good health. We can’t wait to see the lastest cute kid in this world and we hope that you will be back soon. Well that’s about it. Have safe travels, a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and an amazing New Year.
