This year Colla Voce has performed a
number of times and was privileged enough to
be asked to perform in the 40th Jubilee School
Arts festival.
We performed alongside other successful performers that were past students of
Havelock North High School. This opportunity
was a definite highlight for the choir. We were
able to see what hard work can do and where
it can get us in the future with the standard of
performing being outstanding.
We also competed in the annual Big Sing
competition in term two and just recently performed in the schools Music Festival.
Our performances were at our highest thanks
to the directorship of the incredibly talented,
Mrs Melville. Colla Voce strives to continue
the high standard of performing that we have
achieved this year and very much enjoyed
growing as a choir.

It’s been another fun-filled year in 2015 for the
lads in Future Prospect. We started the year with
plenty of new faces coming in to replace the old
heads. After a busy first term for most of us due
to Beauty and The Beast, the second term signalled the beginning of some trademark Future
Prospect hard work to prepare for the annual
Big Sing competition. Our mentor Mrs Melville
chose some challenging songs for us, but her
excellent musical knowledge coupled with her
tremendous patience and ability to put up with
20 rowdy teenage boys meant that we pulled
through in time for the competition. While we
weren’t able to back up our previous two regional winning performances, we all had a great time
entertaining the crowd and generally singing
because we enjoy it.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Melville for all of her hard work that she puts in, not
only this year but for many years before. Without her, we would be just a scraggly bunch of
boys who come along to shout a few words every
Thursday lunchtime. Her attitude towards our
enjoyment and growth is what keeps this choir
going. Thanks for another great year Future
Prospect!
